The remodelling of the Annabella store, situated in the lively Hermes area of Ramnicu Valcea, came along with the desire for it to become the most representative store for Annabella supermarket chain. The design process started with identifying the problems that existed with the previous layout. The space was characterized by an irregularity due to it consisting of different commercial areas that were adjoined in time. Aligning the facade from one end to another was the first decision that would determine the new boundaries of the store. Having a large and crowded sidewalk right in front of the supermarket lead to the idea that rather than blocking the view in favour of tall display shelves, to use smaller ones that would make the store completely visible from the street. Inside, the client’s shopping route would gain more sense by separating the entrance from the exit and placing them in opposite ends. Designwise, the interior was stripped to its bare structure that was left exposed, for a more honest look and also for the impression of a larger space. A black ceiling and some splashes of colour define the technical simplicity of the design that focused more on a practical and efficient layout enhanced by carefully picked lighting and clean signage.
